Education

All candidates for the CPA Exam must have completed at least 150 semester hours of college education, and have a baccalaureate degree with a concentration in accounting (or be within 120 days of obtaining this education) from an educational institution recognized by the Washington State Board of Accountancy.

A concentration in accounting includes:

  • 24 semester-hour credits (36 quarter hour credits) in accounting subjects, of which at least 15 semester hours (22.5 quarter hours) are at the upper or graduate level
  • 24 semester-hour credits (36 quarter hour credits) in business administration subjects.

Who can join?

Anyone who is eligible to sit for the CPA Exam, actively pursuing the CPA designation, or still finishing their education requirements for the CPA Exam is eligible for student membership in the WSCPA.

Student - Exam Passer membership is open to anyone that has passed all four parts of the CPA Exam and is working toward licensure by completing the AICPA Professional Ethics Exam and the Washington State Board of Accountancy Experience Requirement. Download a copy of the Experience Affidavit here.

Membership Dues

  • Membership is $40 from April 1 through November 30, or $20 from December 1 through March 30. The fee is not prorated by month.
  • WSCPA membership is renewed annually, due June 1.
